It’s hot, humid, but somewhat cooler. Definitely not the weather Tottenham Hotspur are used to, but it is Singapore. What do you expect?

Sunday 21st July – 19:30pm (Singapore Time), also 50 days after the Champions League Final, but the first pre season game for the Spurs lads as they take on Juventus at Singapore’s National Stadium.

So the line ups are announced. Juventus are showing off their top stars (the famous ones that people want to watch) – Ronaldo, Buffon etc. Pochettino’s Spurs opt for something different, a mixture of household names and academy lads making their debuts. Son, obviously a crowd favourite here in Singapore; Dele, another favourite as noted by the number of spectators wearing the number “20” shirt; as well as Parrott, the 17 year old Irish Lad making his first senior appearance for Tottenham Hotspur.

Some talking points

Oliver Skipp also putting in a shift, during the first 45 minutes. Not afraid to go in for the ball, and I can see him try and challenge for a position in that midfield. However, will still probably only be used in League Cup and FA Cup.

Lamela looked sharp, and if he can stay that way (without an injuries🤞🏼) then he will definitely be a good squad player for the upcoming season.

Troy Parrott, albeit only 17, could be a future star, and at the moment is going under the radar of young talent emerging. Could potentially be a good back up striker for Kane, if Spurs fail to sign a back up striker or give Llorente a new contract. Also nice assist for Lamellas goal in the first half.

Winks easily one of the best players on the pitch, and controlling the midfield.

Alderweireld is world class, and as usual bossed center back in the first half.

Lucas Moura is definitely out to haunt de Ligt. Poor lad is having flashbacks to the Champions League semi final. Another Moura goal just 2 minutes after de Ligt stepped on the pitch. Also same score at the end.

Kyle Walker-Peters has Ronaldo pocketed at some points in the match. You can tell he wants to be starting as Spurs main right back after the departure of Trippier. May see him more than Aurier next season, especially if no New right back is signed. However, will Foyth also be challenging for that position?

Tanganga was impressive as centre back, the young lad worked well with Alderweireld, but I can’t see him playing in the league next season.

Ndombele, well what a debut. First touch of the game, and it’s an assist for Mouras goal. Also had a chance later himself. If he carries on like this, he will be worth the money. Clearly can / or is world class.

Sissoko bossed the midfield again in the second half. Also can tell he is going to work well with Ndombele.

Talking about world class, Harry Kane. Yes, he was lost in most of the second half, but that goal right at the very end of the match. Well, I can’t stop replying it in my head. Superb goal, and what made it even better was the goalkeeper for Juventus as an ex Arsenal player. Oh you can’t make these things up. Deserved man of the match for that goal alone.

What are your thoughts?
